NOMOS Year
Every Earth year is carried by one Nomos: the Year Carrier. Your Nom gives the tone of the day. The Carrier gives the tone of the whole year, from the day it takes its seat until the next one arrives.

Four Carriers take turns, one per year. The numeral climbs by one each year, so the same Carrier with the same numeral returns only after 52 years. The current round opened in 2013, the first year after the Shift.
How to read the wheelEach dot is one year. The round starts at the top and runs clockwise. Every 13th dot is larger: a numeral 1, the start of a new climb. The bright dot is the year you chose.
Only four of the 20 Nomos can carry a year, one from each direction. They always arrive in the same order.

NOM · The day
13 numerals × 20 Nomos = 260 days. The energy of one day. It is the only clock used for your Nomos and your Cross.
YEAR · The Earth
18 cycles × 20 days + 5 closing days = 365. The traditional solar year. It shows where the Earth is in its year.
CARRIER · The year
The Nomos that takes its seat on the day the living count opens the year, in mid-February. It gives the year its tone and changes nothing about who you are.

01Why only four Carriers+
A year of 365 days is 18 × 20 + 5. Each new year opens 5 Nomos further on, so only every fifth Nomos can ever open a year: 4 of the 20.
One Carrier for each direction. The year walks the four corners of the Earth.
02Why the numeral climbs by one+
365 is 28 × 13 + 1. Each year the numeral of the Carrier moves up by exactly one step, from 1 to 13, then starts again.
Each Carrier returns every four years, a little stronger, until the climb is complete.
03The 52-year round+
4 Carriers × 13 numerals = 52 years. It is the same 52-year return where the 260-day and 365-day counts meet again (18,980 days).
One full round of the wheel is one full turn of a life. Whoever lives through it becomes an elder.
04Why the date moves in February+
The Carrier year is always exactly 365 days and has no leap day. After every 29 February, the opening day moves one day earlier: 18.02 from 2026 to 2028, then 17.02 from 2029.
The count keeps its own time. It does not bend to the machine calendar.
05A new round after the Shift+
The year opened in February 2013 was carried by 1 Messenger: numeral 1 on the first Carrier. It was the first Carrier year after 21.12.2012.
After the Shift, the wheel started again from the seed. We are living inside that new round.
06What the Carrier changes+
Your Nomos, your Cross and your NOMOSOM come only from the Nom count on your birth day. The Carrier is never used in those calculations.
The Carrier is the weather of the year. You are still you. You only learn which wind is blowing.
The numbers are measured.
The meaning is ours.
